Digital Hematocrit Reader

The CritSpin® Digital Hematocrit Reader is a new accessory that simplifies and accelerates the handling and reading of capillary tubes for spun microhematocrit determinations. The compact instrument accepts the transparent rotors from a variety of StatSpin centrifuges, both new and old. Measurements are made while tubes are contained in the rotor, thereby minimizing risks inherent in handling blood-filled capillaries. The system also includes an adaptor to measure 75mm capillary tubes of various bore sizes from other suppliers.

Glass or plastic hematocrit tubes are well illuminated by unique fiber-optics that makes it easy to view the clay, blood/plasma and air interfaces within the spun tubes. The operator simply aligns the sliding pointer to each interface and presses a single button. LED indicators guide the operator through the simple 3-step procedure. The large, bright digital display shows hematocrit value in percent to the nearest 0.5% or in decimal equivalent to the nearest 0.005.
